It started as a coproduction between \u00a0Imperial Japan\u00a0and\u00a0Nazi Germany in 1937 by\u00a0Arnold Fanck\u00a0and\u00a0Mansaku Itami. The idea was to make one big propaganda film together which shows the ideologic relation of both nations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The two directors Franck and Itami found little mutual understanding in the production of the film and therefore created two separate versions for release in their respective countries. On same locations with same actors, the switched the whole team by day to day and created The Daughter of the Samurai<\/strong> in Germany and The New Earth<\/strong> in Japan (German:\u00a0Die Tochter des Samurai<\/em>,\u00a0Japanese:\u00a0Atarashiki Tsuchi<\/em>\u00a0\u65b0\u3057\u304d\u571f,\u00a0The New Earth<\/em>).\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
