As part of\u00a0the Shanghai International Photofair Anita Gratzer\u00a0presents from September 9 to October 8, 2017 her latest art works on 500 square-meter of Swatch Peace Art Hotel exhibition floor at 23 Nanjing E Rd. Around forty large sized analogue photographies and paper objects\u00a0are shown, \u00a0produced in Japan, Korea and Shanghai in the last two years. In Shanghai, Anita Gratzer exhibits a body of work that articulates her memory of lost stories, interest in Eastern traditions and forges links between them and the world as it is experienced today.\u00a0In the analogue photographic work she presents the\u00a0relationship between the body and its symbolic representation by connecting the layers of historical materiality with contemporary personality.\u00a0Working with analogue film in a traditional manner Anita Gratzer pushes the boundaries of traditional photography without using digital equipment. Like a painter or sculptor\u00a0she changes the chemical layers of the crystalline structure by scratching, bleaching and drawing on its surface. Digging mirror-inverted and color-inverted through this layers Anita Gratzer destroys and manipulates the film to its unique materiality.<\/p>\n

Anita Gratzer exhibits a body of work that articulates her memory of lost stories, interest in Eastern traditions and forges links between them and the world as it is experienced today. She\u00a0has experienced South- East Asia multiple times in the last decade and has worked in Japan, Korea and China at different artist residencies.<\/p>\n

In Winter\u00a02016 Anita Gratzer stayed for three month as an artist in residency at the Swatch Peace Art Hotel SAPH, Shanghai.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
