Our artistic interests here at Atelier Furusato have a wide range from working with washi paper for wearable sculptures to intercultural case studies on how we construct our private memories in different societies. For Anita analogue photography remains a big value as she learned this craft early on. The focus in Manuel’s artistic research mainly relates to his doctoral thesis on the influence of Western art on the creation of Japanese cultural identity.
We collect and compare historical photographs from private sources, mainly from Europe and Japan.
In collaboration with Shiro Oni Artist Residency, we may start to host analog photography workshops this year.
