Open sleeves of double width, approximately square, and sewn to the front and back panels, which are not sewn to each other below the sleeves. Kariginu are informal clothes worn by Court nobles in the Heian period and afterwards. “Kariginu” literally means hunting clothes, referring to its original usage. They gradually obtained popularity as informal clothes because they were suitable for physical activities.
