Geometric legwear for a Butoh performance that references the Austrian tradition of alpine military trousers under Emperor Franz Joseph I. In the Meiji era, Japan adopted this silhouette as the Nikka-Pokka, which after 1945 evolved into the robust workwear of Japanese construction workers — the predecessor of today’s Tobi trousers.
