A creative reimagining of the bōzugappa—a traditional Japanese traveling cloak—featuring an integrated zukin (hood). This piece is crafted from historic, hand-inscribed washi paper, dyed with red sumi ink 朱肉 . Originally worn during the Meiji and Taishō eras, these garments protected travelers from wind, rain, and cold. Their design was inspired by the capes of Portuguese missionaries. To ensure durability and water resistance, mulberry paper treated with persimmon tannin (kakishibu) was traditionally layered between the fabrics.
