A modern reinterpretation of the sobatsugi, a sleeveless Noh theater costume used as a simplified representation of samurai armor. Handcrafted from upcycled vintage obi, this sculptural garment utilizes the stiff, opulent properties of traditional silk brocade to build dramatic architectural lines. The striking contrast between the emerald green geometric crests and the inner layer of gold-threaded orange clouds mirrors the intense, vibrant energy of theatrical performances. The artwork beautifully strips away the conventional function of the obi to rebuild the imposing, protective presence of a stage-bound warrior.
